Kanha National Park, aka Kanha Tiger Reserve in Madha Pradesh, central India is one of the best places to have a good chance of seeing Tigers, but it isn’t always easy. Even though the local guides are skilled in spotting tiger pug marks and listening for the calls of the antelope and monkeys which indicate a Tiger in the area, they can be surprisingly elusive. So you can end up driving round and round for a long time in the search, and not every game drive results in a Tiger sighting. Even when you see a Tiger, it is often lying down sleeping or resting, or walking through dense vegetation. One of the things to look out for is the tip of a tail.
On one of my game drives there, my jeep was lucky enough to see a Tigress with four six-month old cubs. For a long time, they were at a distance, but perfectly visible, then with a lot of back and forward-ing they gradually came down nearer to the tracks where the jeeps were, to the delight of all the waiting visitors. This is the mother Tigress with one of her cubs.
