The Convention Centre on the north bank of the River Liffey, just east of Dublin city centre.
The purpose-built convention centre was designed by the Irish-American Pritzker Architecture Prize-winning architect Kevin Roche and opened in 2010.
It is the world’s first carbon-neutral convention centre, because of its use of low-carbon cement and the offsetting of unavoidable carbon emissions by purchasing carbon credits in accordance with the Voluntary Carbon Standard. It also features a thermal-wheel heat-recovery system and an ice-storage thermal unit to provide air conditioning for the building.
