Royal Exchange Square in Glasgow at night

Royal Exchange Square in central Glasgow, Scotland.

The pillared building on the right of the image is the former Bank of Scotland building, designed by Archibald Elliot II and built in 1834. At the time of writing, it houses a Zizzi Italian restaurant.

On the left hand side is the building which was the original Royal Exchange, which was re-designed (from a former tobacco lord’s mansion, built in 1778) by David Hamilton and opened in 1829. Since 1996, it has housed Glasgow’s Museum of Modern Art (GOMA).
