A macro photo of a Pink Hybrid Tea Rose.
I just loved the intensity of the pink colour and the perfection of the silky smooth petals.
This is a scan from a 35mm slide, so one of the few of my older photos to have survived digitisation, and it’s one I’m particularly happy with.
Hybrid Tea roses are apparently nowadays regarded as ‘old fashioned’, but in gardening as in everything else, fashion comes, goes and rotates in and out, so there may be a revival, even if it’s all about English Roses nowadays. Hybrid Tea roses were particularly bred for their scent and shape. The downside was that they have nothing left for pollinating insects. The more open types of rose have more to offer insects, but have lost their scent. Hopefully, someone will be able to breed a good combination.
