Paisley Abbey is a former medieval priory which is now an active Church of Scotland parish church in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland.
The Abbey is situated on the site of a former Celtic Church founded by St Mirin in the sixth century. A Cluniac monastery was established in 1163, and given abbey status in 1245. However, much of that building was destroyed by a fire in 1307 and was restored during the following century. The central tower was destroyed in 1560, and around the same time, the Scottish Reformation dismantled the monastery and the remainder of the church became the parish church of Paisley.
The current building is the result of renovations through the 19th and 20th centuries, followed by a ten year programme of work which was completed in 2012.
