A close-up of a female Leopard, Panthera pardus, photographed in Chobe National Park, Botswana.
Leopards are not seen as regularly on most Africam safaris as Lions and Cheetahs, though there are known Leopard ‘hotspots’. In some areas they rest up during the day and are more often active from dusk to dawn.pThey often rest in trees (where they also stash their prey) where they can be surprisingly difficult to see, though they often give themselves away.
I took the photo on the right in Buffalo Spings, Kenya (part of the Samburu Complex). The riverine forest on both sides of the river can be a good place for finding Leopards in Kenya.
