A piper from the Scots Guards Pipe Band

Celebrating International Bagpipe Day with some images of musicians from different Pipe Bands from different counties.

The photo above shows a piper from the Scots Guards Pipe Band with a piper from the Crossed Swords Pipe Band from Germany behind him. Each band has their own uniform. The tartan used by the Scots Guards is the Royal Stewart. This photograph shows a small section of a Massed Pipes and Drums performance in George Square in Glasgow as part of the Piping Live! festival. Brazilian Piper

This piper is part of the Brazilian Marine Pipes, Drum and Bugle Corps (Banda Marcial dos Fuzileiros Navais), which is the only field music formation in service in the Brazilian Navy. Part of the Piping Live festival in Glasgow.

Continuing the international theme, this is the Msida Sea Scouts Pipe Band from Malta, a younger band founded in 2007, performing in Princes Street Gardens, next to the Scott Monument as part of Edinburgh’s Festival Season.

And this is Dartmouth and District Pipe Band from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, which currently consists of a grade four and grade five competition band, a parade band, and a well-established bagpipe and drumming school. This performance was part of the Piping Live! festival in Glasgow’s George Square.
