The Ibrahim Al-Ibrahim Mosque at Europa Point, the southernmost point of the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar. This mosque is also known as King Fahd bin Abdulaziz al-Saud Mosque or the Mosque of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
The mosque was gifted to the Muslims of Gibraltar by the late King Fahd of Saudi Arabia. It cost c£5 million and was opened in 1997. It has a stunning location with the well-known landmark of the Rock of Gibraltar behind it. It looks south, over the Straits of Gibraltar to Morocco, from where most of the thousand or so Gibraltarian Muslims originate. c4% of Gibraltar’s population is Muslim. It is the most southerly mosque in Europe.
Its ground floor has six classrooms, a conference hall, a library, a kitchen, toilets, its own morgue, administrative offices and housing for the caretaker and the Imam.
Above the ground floor is a 480 m2 prayer hall for men, and the womens’ prayer hall is on a mezzanine with a separating screen.
