A beatiful clump of Campanula carpatica ‘Blaue Clips’ growing in my garden.
This particular genus of Bellflower is a low-growing Alpine variety. It can flower profusely from Summer to Autumn, sometimes with two peaks of flowering In some years it seems to take a flowering ‘break’, and only a few flowers bloom in that season, to recover from its efforts, then flowers with renewed vigour the next year.
Carpathian Bellflowers (there is a white variety too) are great for softening walls, and mine serves that purpost at the front of my rockery. Campanulas are also great for pollinators, and ‘Blaue clips’ has its flowers facing upwards, so it’s easy to see the little insects as they feed.
