Anse Source d'Argent

La Digue’s beaches are among the world’s most beautiful, and this is arguably the most beautiful, the rounded granite rocks being an unusual contrast with the powdery, pale sand, the Indian Ocean and palm trees. It is one of the most photographed beaches in the world, and has appeared as a background in several movies, and advertisements.

Rather oddly, I hadn’t heard of the beach before I visited it, though I did think it was stunningly beautiful at that time (I’m not really a ‘beath’ person – we had gone to La Digue specifically to see the La Digue Paradise Flycatcher). This photo was originally a 35mm slide. Years later I read of Anse Source d’Argent, and checking this and other slides I had made that day I realised that I had indeed unknowingly visited this world-renowned location.
