Mexican Giant Cordon Cactus, Pachycereus pringlei, growing natively on Isla Santa Catalina, an island in the Sea of Cortez, Baja California Sur, Mexico.
Pachycereus pringlei is a grey-green, spiny, columnar species, sometimes called Elephant Cactus, and it is the largest Cactus species in the world. It is native to the Sonoran Desert in California, USA, and to the desert areas of Baja California, Mexico, including the desert islands. It flowers at night as it is mainly pollinated by the nectar-feeding Southern Long-nosed Bat, Leptonycteris curasoae.
