A mixture of Astrantia major ‘Claret’ and Astrantia major ‘Roma’ growing together in my garden.
Astrantia, otherwise known as Greater Masterwort, or Hattie’s Pincushion, are hardy herbacious flowers which range from white with a tint of green through pale to deep pink to a deep burgundy and red. They consists of a ‘pincushion’ or tiny flowers surrounded by a ‘ruff’ of bracts, on top of delicate-looking stems. They flower all summer, in temperate climates.
