Eurasian Siskin

Siskins are another bird I saw very seldom when I started birding seriously.

One day, I was looking out of my window in my previous house and saw on on the bird feeder. My husband was out at the time, and I thought he might be sceptical if I said I’d seen a Siskin on the seed feeder, so every time I passed the back window, I crawled under the level of the windowsill in the hope it would stay. Ha! Not only did it stay that day, it was regularly on the feeder for a good few days. Now I get them on my feeders sporadically, mostly in winter, but they can come any month, unpredictably. They are tiny finches, and very acrobatic.
