Part of the Manhattan Skyline at sundown from the Central Park Reservoir, aka the Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis Reservoir in New York, USA.
The Central Park Reservoir (fka Upper Reservoir)was built by the Croton Aqueduct board and completed in 1862. . At the time of its construction, it was the world’s largest man-made water body, holding more than one billion gallons of water. Originally built to supplement New York’s first receiving reservoir. It was decommissioned from water supply use in 1993.
In 1994, the Reservoir was named after Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis—who used to jog here—in honor of her contributions to the City. The track around the reservoir is 1.58 miles long and is popular with joggers and walkers. As the reservoir attracts various species of waterbirds, it is also popular with birders. All the way round the track, there are different skyline of that part of New York City, particularly the upscale areas, Upper East Side and Upper West Side.
