African ElephantThe naturalist at Samburu Serena lodge told us that the elephants at Samburu/Buffalo Springs tend to be younger/ smaller than those at e.g. Amboseli, because of poaching about 20 years ago.
One of the great pleasures of Samburu/Buffalo Springs is the likelihood of seeing elephants crossing the Uaso Nyiro river. Even if they don't cross the over, there is a good chance that they will come down to the river to drink, in late morning as the temperature soars. There are favoured areas for this.
