Oryx/Gemsbok at Etosha National Park, Namibia

Oryx (gemsbok) fighting

Oryx gazella

The Oryx found in Southern Africa is often known by its Afrikaans name, Gemsbok. In many books, it is listed merely as a separate sub-species to the Fringe-eared and Beisa Oryxes of Eastern Africa, but Kingdon has it as a separate full species, Oryx gazella (Southern Oryx/Gemsbok)
Although the Oryx usually drank from the edge of this waterhole at Okakuejo rest camp, this one chose to wade right in. Oryx (Gemsbok) wading in water
