Dunes, Sossuvlei area, Namib-Naukluft NP, Namibia

Another Dune You could easily spend all day in this area. For maximum time among the dunes, you only have a few options. the nearest places to stay are the expensive Karos, Kulala and the even more expensive Sossussvlei lodges. There is also a campsite near to the main entrance (where you pay). Other than this, you can stay about an hour's drive away in the Solitaire area where there are guest farms; we stayed at Solitaire and Weltevrede. If you stay at the campsite or Sossussvlei Wilderness Lodge (I don't know about the other two lodges) you can 'get in' an hour before sunrise, otherwise you have to wait until the gate opens at sunrise. Get there very early - there's a considerable queue! The reverse applies at sunset.
A third dune
A fourth dune (how many did you expect?) I've got lots more where they came from!
The fifth and final dune, but it's a goodie: Crazy Dune! This beautiful curvaceous dune is called Crazy Dune because you must be crazy to climb it!
(According to Franz, it takes two hours.)
