Short-eared Owl

Asio flammeus galapagoensis

The Galápagos Islands

Apart from the day flying Storm Petrels, which this owl seems to be watching thoughtfully, the Short-eared Owls also feed on other birds, rats and introduced mice.
Althoug it is most often seen on Genovesa, it is present throughout the islands, but tends to be more nocturnal in feeding habits on the islands which have Galapagos Hawk.
