Lava Heron

Butorides sundevalli

Medium Ground Finch

<-  The Darwin's finches are much more difficult to tell apart than I had been led to believe!
I'm identifying the finch on the left 'by the book' which says: "The size of the bill is very variable but is never as dainty or as pointed as in Small Ground."

Warbler Finch

Medium Ground Finch

Geospiza fortis

Warbler Finch

Certhidia olivacea

Galapagos Hawk - 25Kb

Galápagos Hawk

Buteo galapagoensis

The Galápagos Hawk is really, as its scientific name suggests, a Buzzard (i.e. in the UK sense, not the US 'vulture' sense!). This particular individual enjoyed perching on the National Park sign at the entrance to Punta Suarez on Española.
